Dr. Cephas L. Bard moved to rural San Buenaventura in 1868 after serving as a surgeon in the Civil War. In 1901 he and his brother built the first private hospital in Ventura County — Elizabeth Bard Memorial Hospital, which is now known as Community Memorial Hospital.

The Cephas Bard award honors those who enhance the reputation and quality of Community Memorial Hospital.

Supporting the new
Community Memorial Hospital

We invite you to join us at the Benefactors’ Ball, an elegant and delightful evening of sharing valued friendships, fine cuisine, and music that makes all of us want to dance. The Benefactors’ Ball has been presented annually by the Community Memorial Healthcare Foundation for the past 47 years.

Your support of this event in 2019 will help the Foundation raise funds to purchase vital equipment for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Surgery Department and Community Memorial Healthcare Foundation. In the new Community Memorial Hospital, the NICU now boasts 18 state-of-art bassinets for our youngest patients, while the Surgery Department features 10 cutting edge surgical suites to serve our community’s growing needs.

For your health, for your community.
